This deck has recently been updated with input from Mick Hopkinson and several other NZ paddling gurus. The deck now has improved implosion-resistance, and passes Mick's test to make it one of the only decks he will use to paddle Grade 5. We've looked at other kevlar decks on the market and decided to go full on with a maximum amount of real kevlar neoprene. None of these stick-on patches for us, with this deck you get actual panels of full thickness kevlar neoprene around most of the deck's edge, giving you optimum protection where you need it most. These panels have been designed wide enough to cover the thigh braces as well as the cockpit rim, so that your deck is protected from impacts at all angles. Deck section: High density 3mm double-lined neoprene with small diamond texture on top for superb strength and durability. Generous panels of 3mm kevlar neoprene make up the outside band around the front and sides of the deck. Seams seam-sealed on top and underneath for a smooth, secure, waterproof join. Even the edge of the kevlar neoprene is edge-bound to avoid fraying. Body tube: Sorft and flexible 3mm neoprene for comfort. Edge bound for a top quality finish. Cord: 9.5mm shockcord fitted with a very strong front grab loop for easy release. Plus a new emergency release tag fitted to the right rear as shown, to be used in situations where the front tag can't be reached easily. This emergency tag is a single straight length of strong webbing, with no loop to get caught up. It can be tucked into the cockpit or allowed to fall into the cockpit rim, or even cut off if you really would prefer to be without it. Otherwise, do as Mick's doing and be thankful it's there in case it's ever needed. Underside: A wide band of latex painted on to the underside for maximum grip and waterproofing. This deck is available for all plastic boats, in two main sizes, Keyhole and Bigdeck.
